Split Retroactive Date

Different retro dates for different layers of limits on one policy. Often the old retro date applies up to your old limits and a new date applies to newly added limits.

What it means for your firm

This is common when a firm raises its professional liability limits or moves from a low-limit policy. Past work stays covered, but often only up to the limits you carried before.

Some insurers will extend the older retro date to the full limit for an added premium. Ask before you bind.
