Inland Marine

Coverage for equipment and property that moves: in your truck, at a job site or in transit. Despite the name, it has nothing to do with boats.

What it means for your firm

Office property coverage is built for things at your office. Equipment taken to job sites is often covered only up to a smaller amount, sometimes per item.

An inland marine policy, often called an equipment floater, follows the equipment wherever it goes. High value items such as scanners, drones and survey instruments are usually listed by name and value.

Some forms can also cover equipment you rent or borrow, which rental companies often require. Check how the policy treats air travel and work outside the country.

General definition for education only. It is not an interpretation of any policy or contract, and it is not legal advice. The wording of your own policy and contract controls. Policies and definitions vary by insurance company.
