Employment Practices Liability (EPLI)

Coverage for claims from employees or applicants, such as wrongful termination, discrimination or harassment.

What it means for your firm

Professional and general liability policies usually exclude employment claims. EPLI fills that gap.

Small firms can sometimes add EPLI to a business owners policy by endorsement. These endorsements usually have lower limits and narrower terms than a stand alone policy, and defense costs may reduce the limit.

EPLI is usually written on a claims made basis.

General definition for education only. It is not an interpretation of any policy or contract, and it is not legal advice. The wording of your own policy and contract controls. Policies and definitions vary by insurance company.
