The part of a workers compensation policy that covers lawsuits over employee injuries that fall outside workers comp benefits, such as a suit by an employee's family member.

It is shown as three numbers, such as $1M / $1M / $1M: bodily injury by accident (each accident), bodily injury by disease (each employee), and bodily injury by disease (policy limit).

Umbrella and excess policies often require employers liability as underlying coverage.
